Every AI advertisement promises the same thing: speed. Write in seconds. Design in minutes. Launch a campaign before lunch.
Speed sounds like progress. But speed has no direction of its own. It only makes you arrive sooner, at whatever destination you were already heading for.
If the direction is right, AI is a gift. If the direction is wrong, AI is the fastest way to lose money ever invented.
A simple example
Imagine a fashion shop targeting the wrong customer: young students, when the people who actually buy are working mothers.
Before AI, the shop would produce maybe ten wrong posts a month. Slow, painful, but the damage was limited, and someone might notice the pattern.
With AI, the same shop now produces sixty wrong posts, twenty wrong ad variations and a wrong landing page, all in the first week. The ads spend faster. The wrong audience grows faster. The data fills up with the wrong signals, and the platform’s algorithm learns to find even more of the wrong people.
Nothing was badly executed. Everything was executed beautifully, in the wrong direction.
Why speed hides mistakes
When work was slow, every piece passed through a human who had time to think: “Wait, is this right?”
AI removes that pause. A post goes from idea to published without anyone stopping to question the idea. Volume creates a feeling of momentum. Momentum feels like success, until the monthly report arrives.
Strategy is the brake, not the engine
We usually think of strategy as something that slows you down: meetings, research, planning. In the AI era, that slowing down is the valuable part.
Five questions to answer before you let AI accelerate anything:
- Who is this for, specifically?
- What do we want them to do after seeing it?
- How will we know, in numbers, if it worked?
- What is the cost of being wrong?
- What is the smallest test that would tell us whether we’re right?
Answer these first, and AI becomes an engine pointed in the right direction. Skip them, and you’ve built a faster car with no steering wheel.
Test small, then scale fast
The smart way to use AI speed is not to produce more. It is to test more, with less.
Use AI to create five different messages for five small audiences. Spend a little. Watch the real numbers. Kill the four that don’t work. Then, and only then, use AI’s speed to scale the winner.
This is how speed becomes an advantage: by making learning faster, not by making output bigger.
Where DMG fits
At DMG, we decide the direction before we touch the accelerator. We set the target customer, the goal and the measurement first, run small tests, and scale only what the numbers prove. AI makes our execution fast. Strategy makes sure it’s fast in the right direction.
Moving fast but not sure you’re moving the right way? Let’s check the direction before you spend more. Talk to DMG.
